The unit's walls, ceiling, and floor tell you about water and pest risks that affect your contents. Documenting them at lock-up establishes the condition you left your belongings in.

What if I add or remove items during the storage period?

Start a fresh single record for significant changes, or treat the re-open as a new baseline. The pair comparison is most meaningful between two visits with the same contents.

Can this help with a claim against the facility?

Your report documents the unit's condition and your contents at lock-up versus re-open, with server timestamps and hashes. It is your own photographic record — not an inspection or legal opinion — and does not guarantee any outcome.

How detailed should the contents photos be?
